Stitching weavers of India
Share
Sundaari is dedicated to weaving the untold stories behind each handwoven piece crafted by the skilled weavers of India.
From the northern to the southern regions of India, only a few artisans remain who are engaged in this exclusive craft. In small, cramped rooms, these labourers work tirelessly day and night to create beautiful pieces for our special occasions. Many of these weavers live a hand-to-mouth existence, without access to electricity, running water, or central heating.
While these pieces may seem expensive at first glance, the effort and dedication involved in creating each one are truly commendable. Before the weaving process even begins, many factors must be considered, such as selecting the designs, choosing the appropriate fabric, determining the customer’s budget, planning the timeframe, and accounting for weather conditions necessary for dyeing the fabric, as well as the availability of labour.
Once these preparations are complete, the weaving process begins, which can take anywhere from days to months to produce these masterpieces.
Our mission at Sundaari is to improve the living conditions of the weavers we work with and to provide our customers with the finest fabrics.
